"POSSUM" WHITTED |
THE 1914 "MIRACLE" BRAVES
June 29, 1914
... The game between the Braves and the Philadelphia Phillies
was called off due to the rain.
Hub Perdue was traded to the St. Louis Cardinals in exchange for
outfielder, Ted Cather and infielder George "Possum" Whitted. Perdue
seemed to not be able to get going this season. When the club
returned from their road trip, he to be coming around, but was then
sidelined with a bout of tonsillitis.
Whitted is batting .319 in 119 games played, including 18 doubles, 8
triples and 5 home runs. Cather had been batting around .300 for
most of the season, but has fallen off lately. |
