FOOTBALL AT FENWAY
November 11, 1937 ... Accommodating the legion which has been cheering his phenomenal end play this season, big John Wysocki scored a personal triumph and all the points as undefeated Villanova emerged with a 12-0 victory over a battling, but ill-fated Boston University eleven at Fenway Park. A versatile agile flanker, whose superior play has not been seen here this season, Wysocki rose above a stubborn, beautifully conceived Terrier defense with individual prowess in a blocked kick recovery, a 30-yard scoring run in the second period. and a glue-fingered 45-yard scoring pass thrown by Ray Stoviak in the third period. B.U.'s only scoring chances were limited to a blinding double reverse in the first period with Saul Nechtem carrying for big yardage, and a pass interception by Johnny Walker near the goal line in the final period, with an ensuing lateral to Nechtem, who cut back for a nifty 80-yard run. These constituted the full extent of B.U.'s scoring chances and it was heartbreaking for the Terriers who poured all their energy and fortitude into a losing effort to a superior foe. |
