Boston College ruins Temple's dreams
for an undefeated season
November 1, 1941 ...
The Temple Owls came to town with five consecutive wins with dreams of an undefeated season. The Eagles, who had been labeled as a team with no spirit, letting the coaching staff down and not playing in the Boston College tradition answered by destroyed Temple's
dream season by rolling up a 31-0 score at muddy Fenway Park. A steady rain and a sea of mud greeted the fans and a dull game seemed to be on the menu. But from the opening whistle B.C. swam to a lopsided win. Before the game was five minutes old the avalanche was well
on its way to burying the Owls 31-0.

With but three minutes to go before the halftime intermission, Frank Maznicki stepped back and slogged a field goal to give the maroon a 3-0 lead. Shortly after the second half got underway, he then pushed through the mud some 32 yards for a touchdown.
Late in the same period, Al Morro broke through the Temple line and blocked an Andy Tomasic punt, recovering it 11 yards from their end zone. Mike Holovak bulled his way through behind Butch Kissell on a sweep for the score.
Temple worked to make a comeback but tried to pass a ball that was wet and slippery. The result was Maznicki intercepting at their 38-yd line and running it down to the 28. Teddy Williams, Maznicki and Holovak drove the ball down the three where Holovak
pushed through for his second score. Six plays later, Jim Benneditto chipped in for one more. On defense, captain Al Morro, Ed Zabilski, Gil Bouley and Patsy Darone were brilliant in stopped the powerful Temple attack cold. Maznicki had a field day romping through the
Owl defenses for 95 rushing yards.
