“DIARY OF A WINNER”

SECRETARY
HERMAN NICKERSON

THE 1914 "MIRACLE" BRAVES

September 27, 1914 ... No game scheduled ... The Braves have two games scheduled against the Chicago Cubs at Fenway Park and will close a final series of the regular season at home. Afterwards the team will take the 5 o'clock train to New York where they will play five games I against the Giants. The Braves will finish the season in Brooklyn, playing four games in three days.

The Giants also have 11 games to play, three with Pittsburgh, five with the Braves, and three with the Phillies. The Braves have to win three or the Giants lose three, or any combination for the Braves to clinch the National League pennant.

Yesterday a large clerical force under the direction of club secretary Herman Nickerson was preparing notices to be sent to those for whom resignations have been made for tickets. These notices were put in the mail last night. Ten or fifteen additional clerks will be put on the job today. There are only about 8500 seats in the grandstand, exclusive of the boxes, and probably a good many applicants will be disappointed in not being able to secure reservations.
