“DIARY OF A WINNER”

THE 1914 "MIRACLE" BRAVES

August 12, 1914 ... Because the game scheduled between Cincinnati and the Braves was called off before noon, Manager Stallings had a chance to bring his team to New York later in the day and give the men a good night's rest before they open the important series with the Giants at the Polo Grounds tomorrow. Johnny Evers is expected to arrive from his home in Troy in the morning, and if he does so, the Boston manager will be able to have his team at full strength up against the Giants.

There was a lot of interest among the New York fans and there is anticipation that there will be large crowds for all three games. Dick Rudolph's fans in Brooklyn are expected to turn out in force to root for him. The Braves expect to have to go against the pitching of Rube Marquard, Jeff Tesreau, and Christy Mathewson in the series.
