THE 1914 "MIRACLE" BRAVES
July 24, 1914
... No game scheduled ... The Boston
Braves and the Chicago Cubs arrived in town on the same train at 9AM,
getting together in Albany while on their way East. The crossed with
the Red Sox who were heading West, between Worcester and Springfield.
Manager Stallings left the train in West Chester, PA to call on Bud
Sharpe, who came in from his Georgia plantation and is visiting his
family. Stallings will arrive back in Boston later today.
Johnny Evers departed in Albany and spent last night with his family in
Troy, NY. Maranville stayed in Springfield. Evers and
Maranville will arrive in Boston this afternoon.
Every one of the Braves is in fine shape. The hard work and the hot
weather has left them thinner, but only to increase their speed.
With a big sale of tickets, they look forward to meeting the Cubs.
President Gaffney arrived in town at 10PM last night and is pleased with
his team's performance, after their poor start. |
