“DIARY OF A WINNER”

JOHNNY DAMON

THE "IDIOTS" REVERSE THE CURSE

October 7, 2004 ... No game scheduled ... Curt Schilling, who battled a deep bone bruise in his right ankle joint much of the season, has developed another injury, which manager Terry Francona alternately portrayed as "a tweak" and "a tendon problem."  Schilling said he believed he tweaked the ankle in the sixth inning of Game 1 covering first base on a grounder by Garret Anderson. But he has appeared to be battling trouble near his right ankle in recent weeks. He limped slightly leaving the game after his previous two starts and resumed wearing a medical boot at times between outings to stabilize the area.

Johnny Damon was searching for a chiropractor today to realign his neck, because "I've started getting my migraines again on this road trip," said Damon, who admitted he had a headache during Wednesday night's game.  In Game 5 of the ALDS in Oakland last October, Damon suffered a Grade 2 concussion after a chilling collision with former Sox infielder Damian Jackson. He had lingering aftereffects, including severe headaches and vision problems.
