“DIARY OF A WINNER”

THE CURSE OF THE BAMBINO, PART 9
"IT AIN'T OVER 'TIL IT'S OVER"...

August 28, 1986 ... No game scheduled ... Manager John McNamara and general manager Lou Gorman met today to discuss the expanded Red Sox roster, which can increase from 24 to 40 players Monday. In addition to adding minor league players and pitcher Steve Crawford (20-day rehabilitation), the two will consider activating veteran shortstop Glenn Hoffman, who is on the disabled list but has been working out with the club for two weeks.

Jim Rice continues to lead the Red Sox with 51 RBIs on the road. He has 14 assists, one short of league leader Jesse Barfield of Toronto.

Spike Owen, who will make his Boston debut tomorrow at shortstop, is tops in the AL with 633 total chances and 393 assists.
