“DIARY OF A WINNER”

GLENN HOFFMAN

THE CURSE OF THE BAMBINO, PART 9
"IT AIN'T OVER 'TIL IT'S OVER"...

April 27, 1986 ... Today's game with the Royals was called after a wait of 1 hour 43 minutes. Ten minutes after the decision was made, it stopped raining. But if nothing else, the Royals made the fans happy. On Umbrella Day, they gave away 17,500. Meanwhile, the fact that the Red Sox had a flight at 6:35 p.m. had something to do with the decision. And while the schedule lists tomorrow as an off day, the Royals have an exhibition game tonight in Omaha, against their Triple-A farm club.

Because of the rain, shortstop Glenn Hoffman's return to the lineup will be delayed until tomorrow night, when the Seattle Mariners visit Fenway Park.
