June 5, 1948 ... General manager Joe Cronin held off the postponement of the game until about half an hour before the starting time. About 2000 soaked fans waited around until the last minute. It was then decided to carry the game over until tomorrow afternoon, when both teams would have had an open date.

Johnny Pesky is scheduled to be back in the lineup for the three-game series with the Tigers. Injured on May 16th, when he pulled a muscle in his leg, Pesky announced that practically all the soreness had disappeared.
