“DIARY OF A WINNER”

DOM & JOE DiMAGGIO

THE CURSE OF THE BAMBINO, PART 2 ...
A POWERFUL RED SOX TEAM FAILS
IN THE WORLD SERIES ...

May 27, 1946 ... No game scheduled ... Catcher Frankie Pytlak will undergo shoulder surgery by Dr. Hyland in St. Louis.  He may be placed on the voluntary retired list by Joe Cronin.

Weather prevented any practice today.  Trainer Win Green had an easy day on the injury front.  His only patient was pitcher Charley Mason, from Brookline, a member of the Sox Scranton farm team.

Dom DiMaggio who resides in Chestnut Hill had brother Joe as his house guest over the last two days.  Sox batting practice pitcher, Paul Schreiber who held the same role with the Yankees last year, reported that very few of the Yankees will miss former manager Joe McCarthy.  Schreiber, Charley Wagner, Randy Heflin, and Boo Ferriss now occupy the same Bay State Road apartment lived in by four of the Boston Bruins during the winter.
