“DIARY OF A WINNER”

TED WILLIAMS

THE CURSE OF THE BAMBINO, PART 2 ...
A POWERFUL RED SOX TEAM FAILS
IN THE WORLD SERIES ...

April 29, 1946 ... No game scheduled ... The Red Sox have batted .279 as to their opponents who have batted .225 and have outscored them 74 runs to 63 runs, and outhit them 122 to 101.  Joe Cronin worked out catchers Roy Partee and Ed McGah on rundowns between third and home at Fenway Park.  Ted Williams came out to do some hitting but the weather was too cold and raw.  Dom DiMaggio's pulled leg muscle feels much better and feels he is ready to go.  His replacement, Leon Culberson is batting .304  The Red Sox sent Sam Mele down to Louisville.  He has not played thus far this season.  Catcher Frankie Pytlak, whose throwing arm has been bothering him, went home to Buffalo for treatment.
