LIGHTHOUSE POINT, NEW HAVEN CT

THE LAST ONE FOR 86 YEARS

August 18, 1918 ...  No game scheduled ... Over 3000 people saw the Red Sox beat the New Haven Colonials in an exhibition game at Lighthouse Point in Connecticut, by a score of 4 to 3. The Colonials, were led by the Yankees Wally Pipp playing first base, while the Red Sox had a lineup that consisted of George Cochran, Eusibio Gonzalez, Wally Schang, Hack Miller, George Whiteman, Heinie Wagner, Bill Pertica, Walt Kinney and of course, Babe Ruth.  In the seventh the Babe hit one so far that it cleared the score board in center field.
