“DIARY OF A WINNER”

THE LAST ONE FOR 86 YEARS

July 14, 1918 ...  No game scheduled. ... The Red Sox, representing Woonsocket, defeated the Queen Quality team of Jamaica Plain, 5 to 2 before 2000 fans.  The Red Sox sent down a bunch of second stringers, (Frank Truesdale, Jack Stansbury, Vince Molyneaux, Wally Mayer, Walter Barbare, Red Bluhm, and Dick McCabe) while Queen Quality was bolstered by several major league players.

American League President Ban Johnson is in town.  This is his first visit to Boston of the year.  Stuffy McInnis is expected back with the neck problem seemingly getting better.
