“DIARY OF A WINNER”

THE LAST ONE FOR 86 YEARS

July 1, 1918 ...  No game scheduled ... Babe Ruth has knocked the ball over the barrier in every American League ballpark this year except for three.  Those are Comiskey Park in Chicago, Shibe Park in Philadelphia, and Fenway Park.

Happy Felsch, the Chicago White Sox center fielder, quit the team today to go back to his home in Milwaukee to work for the gas company and play semi-pro baseball there.  He is the fifth White Sox player to quit the team.  Urban Faber enlisted in the Navy, while Joe Jackson, Byrd Lynn and Lefty Williams have gone to work in the shipyards.
