“DIARY OF A WINNER”
|
BACK-TO-BACK WORLD
SERIES CHAMPS Babe Ruth was up to his old tricks. The boy from Baltimore loves to maul the baseball. He stood at the plate during batting practice and tried to hit the ball downtown. He once did hit the fence in far left field. The regulars stayed at the park from 2PM until 4PM. First there was batting practice with Sam Jones and the Babe doing the throwing. Afterward the fielders took their positions with Carrigan, Rube Foster and Dutch Leonard hitting the flies and grounders to them. In their own quiet way the Red Sox gauged the speed of the grounds and how the ball rolled. The Brooklyn team has not made any arrangements to practice at Braves Field. They arrive at the Hotel Brunswick this evening. When Louis Rounds, president of the borough of Brooklyn, leads his delegation of "Brooklyn Boosters" into Braves Field, the visiting delegation will find the Boston "Royal Rooters" ready to accord them a rousing welcome. The Royal Rooters Band has been practicing for many hours and will serenade the visiting fans in the home of their enemy. |
