“DIARY OF A WINNER”

PATSY DOUGHERTY

BACK-TO-BACK WORLD SERIES CHAMPS

September 13, 1916 ... No game scheduled ... The Detroit Tigers defeated the New York Yankees 4 to 1, to move within two percentage points of the American League lead.  After a 26 hour train ride from Washington the St. Louis the Sox players realized they could lose first place by this time tomorrow unless they get it together.

Patsy Dougherty is another name that was tossed around as Bill Carrigan's successor.  Carrigan learned the Jack Barry's hand in still in a splint and will not be rejoining the team during their road trip.
